Prosecutors Seek Suspension for Park Sang-yong; Democrats Call It “Appropriate”
Published: · Source: mk.co.kr

South Korea’s Supreme Prosecutors’ Office has decided to seek the serious disciplinary measure of suspension against prosecutor Park Sang-yong, who handled the Ssangbangwool remittance-to-North-Korea case, and submitted the request to the Ministry of Justice. The Democratic Party responded by saying it was an “appropriate measure.” Chief spokesperson Kang Jun-hyun referred to Park as a “corrupt prosecutor” while commenting on the request. The case draws attention because an internal prosecutorial disciplinary process has now moved to the ministry stage. The next issue is how the Ministry of Justice will review the request.
