Lee Jae-myung remark banner draws Progressive Party counter in Chuncheon dispute
Published: · Source: mk.co.kr

A political banner dispute recently unfolded along a roadside as the People Power Party’s Chuncheon Gap council and the Progressive Party put up competing signs. The PPP council posted a banner quoting President Lee Jae-myung’s past remark, “If a president commits a crime, he should go to prison too.” In response, the Progressive Party hung a banner referring to former President Yoon Suk Yeol, saying in effect that this was why Yoon went to prison. The banners were placed side by side, creating a back-and-forth confrontation, and some of them have reportedly now been removed. The case shows how local political banner messaging became tied to national political issues. Source: mk.co.kr
