Limits of U.S.-Style Hegemony Highlighted as Korea Faces Diplomatic Choice

Chun Jae-sung, professor of political science and international relations at Seoul National University, said in a presentation at a public seminar of the Economic and Financial Cooperation Research Committee that the model in which the United States alone upholds the world order has reached its limits. He explained that “package pressure” has become a new diplomatic reality, placing Korea before difficult choices between the United States and China. The presentation stressed that Korean diplomacy needs a long-term vision and strategic direction beyond practical diplomacy.
