Oyster Shell Desulfurizer Test Moves Ahead as Ecoshell Supplies KOSPO Plant

Ecoshell, a company specializing in recycling fisheries byproducts, is supplying high-purity shell calcium carbonate produced at its resource recovery facility to Korea Southern Power’s Hadong Bitdream headquarters. The project will test whether oyster shells can be used as a desulfurization material at a power plant. The demonstration focuses on converting shells once treated as waste into an eco-friendly desulfurizer for use in plant processes. According to the original report, commercialization could enable annual use of more than 50,000 tons.
