Broadcom Loses Appeal Over Samsung Pressure Case, W19.1bn Fine Stands
Published: · Source: mk.co.kr

U.S. semiconductor company Broadcom has lost its lawsuit challenging the Korea Fair Trade Commission’s sanctions over claims that it abused its dominant position in key component markets against Samsung Electronics. According to the original report, Broadcom was accused of pressuring Samsung by suggesting it might be unable to make Galaxy devices, while urging a three-year long-term contract worth $1 trillion. In 2023, the KFTC imposed a 19.1 billion won fine on Broadcom. With the loss, Broadcom’s objection was not accepted, leaving the penalty in place over alleged abuse of superior bargaining power in core semiconductor component transactions with Samsung.
