Gwangju Teen Hurt While Helping Stabbing Victim Faces Abusive Comments

A 17-year-old high school student and his family say they are suffering severe emotional distress from malicious comments after he tried to help a high school girl who had been attacked with a knife in Gwangju. According to Gwangju police on the 11th, the student heard screams and ran toward the victim, only to suffer a serious knife wound to his neck. The case has been reported as one in which a student who stepped in to help the victim was himself badly injured. Since then, abusive online comments, including remarks such as “Did you run away to save only yourself?” have deepened the pain for the student and his family.
