Samsung Electronics Strike Concerns Grow as 45 Trillion Won Bonus Demand Raises Tension
Published: · Source: hankyung.com

Concerns are growing inside Samsung Electronics, among suppliers and among shareholders as the company’s union moves toward a general strike. According to Hankyung, the union has demanded 15% of operating profit, about 45 trillion won, as a bonus pool and has proposed removing the bonus cap. It had asked for 10% in earlier talks but reportedly raised the demand after first-quarter results were announced. Management urged employees to do their part so future competitiveness would not be lost. If the strike materializes, possible semiconductor production disruption, pressure on suppliers and weaker trust among overseas customers are expected to become key issues. Source: hankyung.com
