28 endangered smuggled turtles to return home after Incheon Airport seizure
Published: · Source: mk.co.kr

Twenty-eight black-breasted leaf turtles seized by Incheon Airport mail customs are set to return to their native Southeast Asia after being protected at the National Institute of Ecology in Seocheon, South Chungcheong Province. The turtles are a Southeast Asian native species subject to restrictions on international trade. They have been managed at a facility for internationally endangered species operated by the National Institute of Ecology under the Ministry of Climate, Energy and Environment. The seized animals will be transferred to a conservation facility at a local national park. The move highlights both enforcement against illegal wildlife trade and biodiversity conservation.
